These sessions include workshops on content feedback, rapid prototyping advice, public speaking techniques, and PowerPoint presentation skills. The Fourcast Lab will also be at the O-Week party. This is a great way to meet your team’s champion and pick up some Fourcast Lab swag! We look forward to seeing you! Below our O-Week schedule:

Introduction to the Futures Design Challenge

Tuesday, September 24th 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM, MADD CENTER, CRERAR LIBRARY, 1ST FLOOR
The faculty and staff at the University of Chicago invite the Class of 2023 to join the UChicago Futures Design Challenge. This year’s inaugural topic is “Climate Change.” Join the numerous teams that have already signed up with your own team of 3-5 students. Your team can turn to any discipline or interdisciplinary approach to prototype and design an intervention into the issue of climate change and present it in a form of your choice. If you haven’t joined the challenge before this date, it’s not too late! You can join us for an information session that will cover the rules and give you opportunities to form your own team.

For more information, visit Futures Design Challenge.

Lunch with the Fourcasters and FDC Q&A

Meet faculty and other students who share the same interests and start working on your solution to climate change! Pick up some late-game pointers on how to excel at the Futures Design Challenge.

Pitch Perfect

Wednesday, September 25th 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM,  MADD CENTER, CRERAR
A pitch is a brief speech that sparks interest in your ideas. Many people use them to generate interest in a project, product, policy, or yourself! This session is dedicated to teaching participants on perfecting an interesting, memorable, and succinct project pitch. Come learn skills related to pitches, public speaking, and PowerPoint presentations that will help you with the Futures Design Challenge — or any other pitch you might deliver in the future.
