The Fourcasters at the University of Chicago have spent considerable time and energy making repairs to the SPORE following the shutdown that occurred after the final transmission, during which the device was activated in 2049 by the first Anchor, Professor Patrick Jagoda. The SPORE’s resources were severely depleted, and the device needed not only mechanical attention but also time to heal. On August 5, Fourcasters determined that the device would be fit to enable the connection once more.
This new timeline begins in the year 2046. The Anchor cannot speak out loud. Instead, they communicate via TIP: the “Telepathic Interface Protocol.” Their text shows up on the screen in green script, while TERI’s messages (again encompassing the totality of the viewer chat from 2019) appear in blue. Instead of a countdown timer, the screen now displays “Exposure Time,” a clock that counts up.
